Bet On Women Bobbi Gibb
Before women were allowed to officially race the Boston Marathon, Bobbi Gibb
still took to the course with her sights set on competing. Prior to the race, Gibb received a letter from the race director telling her that women were physiologically incapable of running 26.2 miles. Bobbi Gibb took this in stride and is recognized today as the
women's Boston Marathon champion for 1966, 1967, and 1968.
