It's Mullet Season
By: Will Blasé
Hair makes for a commanding presence on the track. Headband it, braid it, clip it… do what you have to do, but when you let the flow run wild, it’s electrifying. A runner’s hair is a testament to their grit and to their personality. It’s something we can all rally behind and there’s no haircut as magnetizing as a mullet.

You all know the face and you all know the race. Engels has been stunning us with his luscious locks for years, but his sit-and-kick finish at the 2019 USATF Outdoor Championships lives forever in our hearts. We love this picture so much, we made it into a shirt.

There’s just something so captivating about Engels, on the track and off. Engels embodies his mullet, given his laid back attitude and free spirit, but his dedication and drive simultaneously inspires the new generation and threatens the old. Ahem, your move, Centro. Engel’s mullet is poised to wave in the wind like an American flag. Will this be his year? Â
But there’s a new mullet in town. Morgan McDonald our favorite Australian, Under Armour sponsored runner and Youtuber is rocking a mullet these days and it’s looking gooood.

Alright, alright, alright, maybe social distancing got to McDonald or maybe it was the Arizona training camp heat, but Team Boss teammate Aisha Praught Leer busted out a pair of scissors and gave our favorite Aussie a fresh mullet before taking fifth at the Bowerman TC Prickly Pear 3000m. Don’t sleep on Praught Leer’s styling skills, McDonald’s once unruly flow looked immaculate as he took to the line against Jager and Kincaid’s well-known locks. Mullets and speed go together like two peas in a pod. If you’re gonna rock it, you better give people a reason to keep their eyes on you . Engels and McDonald bring the heat and it won’t be hard to spot the two on the track as they finish up the outdoor season. It’s mullet season, baby.
